We are looking to build on our tradition of innovation and growth with the addition of a Mechanical Designer to our team.
Our ideal candidate is a self-starter with a background in metal products fabrication, who enjoys a challenge and works well with a dynamic team. A strong quality focus, mindfulness of manufacturing processes, some Industrial Engineering background, will equip you for success. In this role you will be given the opportunity to make a difference while meeting the day-to-day design, technical, manufacturing and organizational requirements.
We specialize in custom products for a variety of industries including telecommunications, medical, nuclear,
transportation and military giving you the freedom from monotony and exciting challenges to look forward to! This position requires a sales-oriented approach as you will be an active participant in customer service from the very beginning; engaging with sales to determine customer needs, assisting customers with technical support and following your product from its first run to completion. Responsibilities include:
· Evaluate customer designs and break down for manufacturability.
· Work with manufacturing to determine the best manufacturing approach.
· Design and develop new products based on market research, including the generation of marketing materials.
· Work with sales to determine customer needs and provide details on manufacturing capability.
· Recommend innovative design enhancements and new product ideas.
· Coordinate the product management process from start to finish; understanding the CUSTOMER/market; ideation and validation of new products and features; prioritization; prototyping, testing and implementation; defining launch strategies; and monitoring success.
· Creation of process flow documents and bills of materials
· Follow all AS9100 and ISO procedures and complete related paperwork.
· Contribute to continual process improvement.
· Close cooperation and alignment with all relevant departments and stakeholders (Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Production, Finance)
Our ideal candidate will have:
· 7+ years manufacturing/design experience
· Extensive, hands-on knowledge of manufacturing processes relating to Machining and sheet metal fabrication.
· Advanced level experience working with SolidWorks; sheet metal module experience.
· Experience using simulation software for model analysis/verification would be an asset.
· The ability to work with multiple files in a multi-user environment.
· Proficiency reading and creating technical drawings including current dimensioning methods (i.e., GD&T;)
· Prior experience with HVAC or complex welded assemblies and simulations software would be an asset.
· Strong drive & initiative and ability to work independently under tight timelines and pressures with multiple competing deadlines.
· Excellent at managing relationships, collaborating, influencing, and communicating across a variety of organizational functions and levels and with clients.
Hours: 7:30am-4:00pm Monday-Friday
