MAIN FUNCTION: Provide members of BGC Durham’s After-School Program with safe, reliable transportation.
REPORTS TO: Director of Children and Youth Recreation Programs
POSITION SUMMARY
BGC Durham is looking for a reliable Shuttle Van Driver to join our team. As our Shuttle
Van Driver, you will be responsible for transporting our members from various school locations to our After-School Program, following a scheduled route and ensuring the safety of all passengers in your care.
Your duties will include conducting pre-trip inspections to ensure the van is in good working condition, observing safety and traffic rules during the journey, and engaging positively with our members and the public.
Additionally, you will be expected to communicate effectively with members, parents,
BGC staff and school staff, providing excellent customer service and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.
Overall, your role as our Shuttle Van Driver is crucial in providing safe and reliable transportation for our members, contributing to their quality afterschool experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Transport our members and other passengers from various school locations
- Obey all traffic laws to ensure members arrive to their afterschool program safely
- Maintain a clean van at all times
- Ensure the safety of all members when entering and leaving the van
- Assist members in getting on and off the bus as needed and using booster seats when required
- Engage positively with members as they enter and leave the bus
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
- Experience in a similar role considered an asset
- Experience working with children considered an asset
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Clean drivers abstract (will be conducted by BGC Durham)
- Ability to carry out assigned route on time
- Must have a full G license
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Monday to Friday, hours are typically between 1:45 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. with opportunity for additional hours providing transportation to support Club operations.
