The Water Treatment Specialist provides key technical and chemical knowledge and understanding to our groundwater treatment processes and supports the design, optimization and implementation of appropriate treatment systems for all projects. This person will complete technical design, field installation, regulatory compliance works and coordinate with clients, project managers and the field operations team. This person will assist a team of environmental and water well technicians providing direction, support and expertise.

Specific Job Duties;

· Assist the Department Head and other Project Managers with the design of groundwater treatment systems including filtration, medias, metals removal, pH control, O/W separation and sedimentation control.

· Install, operate and maintain groundwater treatment systems for dewatering and remediation projects.

· Review project specifications, geotechnical reports, water quality data and discharge criterion to determine appropriate treatment processes for each project.

· Conduct and assist with;

o Water sampling and laboratory data analysis

o Flow calculations and hydraulic evaluations

o Equipment selection

o Drafting treatment system layouts

· Prepare technical documents as necessary.

· Direct and assist with the installation, set-up and commissioning of treatments systems.

o Coordinate with drilling and dewatering teams, subcontractors and others to ensure seamless integration of treatment and dewatering systems.

o Verify correct installation and set up of treatment system components compared to system design and safety standards.

o Troubleshoot and assist team with troubleshooting system performance issues. Escalate any unresolved issues.

· Monitor treatment systems performance including;

o Flow Rates

o Pressures

o Equipment Condition

o Effluent Quality

o System Efficiency

· Collect, analyze,



and interpret water quality data to ensure treatment goals and regulatory discharge standards are met.

· Prepare operational reports as summarizing water quality results and operational effectiveness.

· Ensure compliance and reporting required by Municipal Bylaws, Provincial standards, permit or other standards.

· Maintain accurate logs of treatment system performance, water quality results, calibration certifications, COC’s, chemical usage and maintenance activity.

· Support preparation of documentation for permits, discharge agreements and any other MECP reporting.

- Liaise with equipment suppliers to obtain technical information, quotes, and product recommendations.
- Coordinate field service visits, equipment deliveries, repair schedules, and consumables orders.
- Assist the Department Head in preparing cost estimates and procurement strategies for treatment components.
- Prepare estimates and budgets for water treatment projects.
- Work closely with Water Treatment Technicians, field crews, and other specialists to maintain high standards of safety, quality, and professionalism.
- Participate in training, workshops, and relevant industry associations to stay current with emerging technologies and best practices.
- Support a positive team setting and contribute ideas to improve operational efficiency and technical excellence.
- Conduct all work in compliance with Insitu Contractors Inc. Health and Safety Program and the laws and statutes of Ontario.




- Ensure workers under your direction are similarly working in a safe and productive manner and incompliance with the Health and Safety Program as well as the OHSA and other regulations.

Work Environment;

· Working on various construction and remediation sites in Ontario

· Outdoor/indoor work, all seasons

· Potential high noise environment

· Unknown/untested water samples

· Water contaminants

Core Competencies;

· Strong knowledge of physical and chemical water treatment processes such as

o Coagulation and flocculation

o Activated carbon adsorption

o Iron and manganese removal

o pH adjustment and chemical dosing

· Experience with automated and manual systems

· Familiarity with water quality monitoring instruments

· Strong communication skills (written and oral)

· Excellent time management and ability to work independently

· Excellent team work and interpersonal skills

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to propose practical solutions.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements;

- Post-secondary education in Environmental Engineering, Hydrogeology, Water Resources, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Knowledge of groundwater hydrology, geochemistry, and water treatment processes (filtration, GAC, chemical treatment, pump systems).
- Ability to interpret water quality reports, geotechnical data, and engineering drawings.

· Experience with water/wastewater treatment projects.

· Ability to interpret technical drawings and operation manuals

· Valid Class G drivers license

Pay: $28.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
