We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper and Real Estate Administrative Assistant.
The primary focus of this position is bookkeeping and financial administration. The successful candidate will also provide administrative support to our residential real estate team.
This is an excellent chance for an early-career bookkeeper who wants to gain experience in legal bookkeeping and residential real estate administration.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping and financial records
- Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable and client billing
- Prepare cheques and bank deposits for review and approval
- Enter financial information into the firm’s accounting software
- Assist with bank reconciliations, month-end procedures and trust-related processes
- Maintain organized and confidential financial records
- Assist with opening and maintaining residential real estate files
- Prepare routine correspondence and documents under supervision
- Follow up with clients, banks, real estate agents and other law offices
- Complete bank runs and document deliveries during working hours
- Assist with closing and post-closing tasks
- Provide general administrative support to the team
- Reception, switchboard, front desk
Qualifications
- At least one year of hands-on bookkeeping experience; two years preferred
- Post-secondary education in bookkeeping, accounting, business administration or a related field
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations and financial recordkeeping
- Strong numerical and organizational skills with careful attention to detail
- Professional written and verbal communication skills (reception and front desk experience is welcomed)
- Ability to manage priorities and meet time-sensitive deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Experience with PCLaw or other accounting software is an asset
- Experience with legal bookkeeping, Unity, Teraview or residential real estate is an asset (trust reconciliations, disbursements, statement of adjustments, teraview/land transfer tax payments)
- A valid Ontario driver’s licence and reliable access to a vehicle are required
- Able to work from our Mississauga office
- Please note that employment will be conditional on a satisfactory Criminal Background Check
