Overview

Axis Family Resources Ltd. is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Benefits Coordinator to join our Finance team. Reporting directly to the Accounts Payable Manager, you will administer and optimize employee benefits programs, support finance-aligned processes, and ensure compliance with both organizational policies and provincial regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Benefits Administration (focus):

- Work closely with Finance to align benefits enrollment, remittances, and reconciliations.
- Be the first point of contact for benefits inquiries and resolve issues (claims, coverage, billing) efficiently.
- Add, remove, and modify employee benefit details in benefit and payroll software.
- Track and update benefit status for employees on leave, including WCB and other protected leaves.
- Respond to basic benefit-related questions from employees.
- Monitor and verify vacation balances and approvals.
- Oversee MPP tracking, including eligibility checks, payroll instruction updates, and information validation for MPP representatives.

Payroll administration (secondary):





- Process regular and off-cycle payrolls accurately and on schedule.
- Review timesheets, earnings, deductions, taxable advantages, and payroll adjustments.
- Maintain employee payroll records, banking details, tax forms, and employment status changes.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries while maintaining confidentiality.
- Support Records of Employment, year-end processing, T4 preparation, and audit requests.
- Identify discrepancies and coordinate corrections with Finance, Human Resources, and operational leaders.

Qualifications:

- 2+ years of experience in Canadian HR or benefits administration with strong finance coordination.
- Solid understanding of Canadian group benefits and pension plans (especially in BC).
- Experienced in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical skills, especially for financial reconciliation and reporting.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities, with confidentiality awareness.
- Post-secondary credentials in HR, Business, Finance, or a related field; CHRP or finance/benefits certification is a plus.
- Ability to manage stress and conflict in supporting various situations.
- The ability to function independently while managing concurrent tasks and deadlines.
- A satisfactory criminal record check is mandatory upon hiring.
