We are seeking a Registered Practical Nurse with strong clinical assessment skills, sound judgment, and a passion for employee health and well-being. In this role, you will support employees and leaders across a large, complex academic health sciences centre, helping to promote a safe, healthy, and productive workplace

The successful candidate will bring nursing experience that demonstrates strong assessment, communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion. You will work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment and manage a portfolio of departments, providing a broad range of occupational health services to employees across the organization. Complex cases requiring advanced clinical assessment, legislative interpretation, or specialized disability management and accommodation support will be managed in collaboration with an Occupational Health Registered Nurse

THE OPPORTUNITY

As an Occupational Health Nurse (RPN), you will provide occupational health services to employees and leaders across KHSC. You will assess fitness for work, support communicable disease surveillance and exposure management, assist with workplace injury and illness management, conduct pre-placement health assessments, administer immunizations and testing programs, and provide health education and guidance to employees.

In this autonomous role, you will manage routine occupational health matters, collaborate with leaders and employees to support safe work practices, and contribute to workplace health and wellness initiatives. Your work will require the application of occupational health protocols, medical directives, organizational policies,



and professional nursing standards while ensuring high-quality service and clinical care

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Assess employees reporting symptoms, illnesses, injuries, or workplace exposures and determine fitness for work, including any necessary restrictions or personal protective equipment requirements.
- Manage routine occupational health cases, including workplace injuries, communicable disease concerns, short-term disability matters, and accommodation-related issues.
- Conduct pre-placement health assessments and communicable disease surveillance activities to support safe onboarding and ongoing employee health requirements.
- Administer immunizations, tuberculosis testing, and other occupational health services in accordance with established protocols, medical directives, and organizational requirements.
- Participate in workplace exposure investigations and outbreak management activities, including employee follow-up and required testing.
- Provide health education, support, and guidance to employees and leaders regarding workplace health and wellness.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and support occupational health program administration.
- Collaborate with Occupational Health Registered Nurses and other partners in the management of complex occupational health matters.

What You Bring

- Practical Nursing diploma from a two-year program, or an equivalent credential.
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Nursing experience demonstrating strong assessment, communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills that are transferable to an occupational health role.




- Training or experience related to occupational health, public health, infection prevention and control, or disability management is considered an asset.
- Ability to manage confidential employee information with professionalism, discretion, and respect for privacy.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a cooperative, team-based environment.
- Demonstrated regular attendance and reliability.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory criminal reference check, including a vulnerable sector search.
