We’re hiring a hands-on CNC Router Operator & Fabricator for custom signage and architectural fabrication. You’ll run VCarve jobs end-to-end—open and review files, create/modify toolpaths, nest sheet goods, select tooling, and machine accurately—then move between CNC and bench work as projects progress.

We train on our materials and shop processes; you bring solid router fundamentals and an eye for fit and finish.

What You’ll Do

- Set up and operate a CNC router using VCarve, from file review through production.

- Create and modify profile, pocket, and drilling toolpaths; nest parts efficiently on sheet material.

- Select appropriate tooling and cutting parameters for aluminum, acrylic, ACM, MDF, plywood, plastics, and foam.

- Secure material, confirm setups, and run/monitor jobs for accuracy, edge quality, and cut depth.

- Troubleshoot common issues (chatter, melting, poor edge quality, incorrect depth) and adjust parameters.

- Perform routine CNC cleaning, tool changes, and basic operator-level maintenance.

- Finish CNC-cut parts using routers, sanders, and hand tools to meet fit and appearance standards.

- Participate in general fabrication and assembly as parts move from CNC to final production.

- Read basic drawings and production files; measure and lay out accurately to maintain dimensional tolerances.

Required Skills & Experience

- Hands-on CNC router operating experience.

- Working knowledge of VCarve (ability to open files, create/modify toolpaths, select tooling, and run jobs without step-by-step supervision).

- Understanding of CNC toolpaths, tooling, and basic cutting parameters.

- Experience setting up and securing material for machining.

- Ability to recognize and troubleshoot common CNC cutting issues.

- Ability to read basic drawings, dimensions, and production files.

- Accurate measuring and layout skills; practical experience with common hand and power tools.

- Strong attention to dimensional accuracy, fit, and finished-part quality.

Formal CNC or trade certification is not required. Experience may come from signage, woodworking,

cabinetry, millwork, plastics, exhibits, manufacturing, architectural fabrication, prototyping, or another CNC-based production environment.

Nice to Have

- CNC cutting of aluminum or other non-ferrous materials.

- Acrylic and plastics fabrication.

- Signage or custom fabrication experience.

Shop Equipment You’ll Use

In addition to CNC equipment, you’ll work with some of the following (training provided on unfamiliar tools and our specific procedures): mitre saw, table saw, track saw, router or router table, drill press, power drills and impact drivers, sanders, and common handheld power tools.

Physical Requirements

- Able to safely lift and handle approximately 40–50 lb.

- Comfortable loading and handling sheet materials.

- Comfortable standing and working on your feet for much of the day.

- Comfortable working in an active fabrication environment around machinery, power tools, dust, and noise.

Benefits & Perks

- [Health/dental/vision] benefits.

- Paid time off and statutory holidays.

- Tool allowance safety boot allowance.

Why This Role

Our CNC work is part of a broader custom-fabrication process rather than repetitive machine production. You’ll work with different materials, parts, and fabrication challenges while expanding your experience across custom signage, assembly, finishing, and production fabrication.
