Plasmatech Profile Cutting Inc. is looking for a CAD / CNC Programmer to join our steel plate processing operation.
We specialize in profile cutting using CNC laser, plasma and oxy-fuel equipment. We are looking for someone who can help take customer drawings and requirements through to production by preparing steel detail drawings, work orders and CNC nests.
Responsibilities
- Create and modify steel detail drawings using AutoCAD
- Review customer drawings, DXF/DWG files, sketches and specifications
- Prepare accurate shop drawings and work orders for production
- Program and nest steel plate components using ProNest
- Select appropriate plate sizes, material grades and thicknesses
- Optimize nesting to improve material utilization and reduce scrap
- Work closely with production staff to ensure jobs are programmed correctly
- Make drawing/programming revisions when required
- Help organize jobs and maintain an efficient flow of work to the cutting machines
Experience We're Looking For
ProNest experience is an asset, but it is not required. We are willing to train the right person.
You may be a good fit if you have:
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Ability to read and understand technical/shop drawings
- Some familiarity with steel fabrication, steel plate processing,
CNC cutting or manufacturing
- Good understanding of dimensions, tolerances and basic geometry
- Robust attention to detail
- Good computer skills and willingness to learn
- Ability to communicate with both customers and production personnel
Experience with ProNest, CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, oxy-fuel cutting or steel fabrication would be a strong asset.
Who This Position Could Suit
We are open to candidates with different levels of experience. You do not need to already be an experienced ProNest programmer.
Someone with solid AutoCAD skills and some exposure to steel fabrication, plate processing or CNC manufacturing could be trained for the position.
We're looking for someone who is accurate, mechanically inclined, organized and interested in learning the steel processing business.
