Job Overview

Cambridge International Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Elementary Teaching Assistant / French Teacher to join our teaching team.

Both full-time and part-time opportunities are available.

This is a combined role involving classroom support for elementary students and French language instruction. The successful candidate will work closely with classroom teachers to support students academically and socially while also planning and delivering engaging French lessons appropriate to students' grade levels and abilities.

We are looking for an educator who enjoys working with children, communicates effectively, and can create a positive and engaging environment for learning French.

Responsibilities

- Assist classroom teachers in supporting elementary students with their daily academic activities.
- Provide individual and small-group support to students who require additional assistance.
- Help students stay organized, engaged, and on task during classroom activities.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging French lessons appropriate to students' grade levels and abilities.




- Develop students' French listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
- Incorporate interactive activities, conversation, games, projects, and other age-appropriate learning strategies into French instruction.
- Follow the expectations of the Ontario Curriculum where applicable.
- Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback on progress.
- Support teachers with classroom preparation, learning materials, supervision, and other instructional activities.
- Assist with classroom management and help maintain a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment.
- Supervise students during designated school activities, transitions, recesses, lunch periods, field trips, or other school events as required.
- Maintain appropriate records of student progress and communicate relevant observations to classroom teachers and school administration.
- Communicate professionally with students, parents, colleagues, and school administration.
- Participate in staff meetings, school activities, special events, and professional development opportunities.
- Perform other reasonable educational and student-support duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree or post-secondary education in Education, French, Child and Youth Studies, Early Childhood Education,



or a related field is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in French and English, with the ability to effectively teach French to elementary-level students.
- Previous experience working with elementary-aged children in a school, tutoring, camp, childcare, or similar educational environment is preferred.
- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification is an asset but is not required.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and classroom management skills.
- Patient, dependable, energetic, and comfortable working with students with different learning needs and abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers and other members of the school team.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environment.
