Market & Store Demo Sales Representative

Slow Sunday Foods

Slow Sunday Foods makes sauces for meat from BC fruit. We sell through grocery stores, independent food retailers, farmers markets, and seasonal markets throughout British Columbia.

We're looking for an outgoing, reliable person to represent Slow Sunday Foods at in-store demos in Victoria and Saanich, and some seasonal markets.

The Role

The most important part of this job is straightforward: engage customers and get them to try our products.

You'll independently run store demos, actively approach customers, offer samples, explain the products, answer questions, and sell.

This is not a passive sampling role. The right person enjoys talking to strangers, is comfortable initiating conversations repeatedly throughout a shift, and brings positive energy even when a store or market is quiet.

What You'll Do

- Independently run farmers markets and grocery-store demos.
- Proactively approach customers and offer samples.
- Explain our products, ingredients, flavours, and how customers can use them.
- Transport, organize, set up, and pack down demo materials.
- Process sales and accurately handle cash when working markets.
- Keep products, samples, equipment, and display materials organized.
- Communicate problems, customer feedback, and useful sales observations to management.

Who We're Looking For

Sales personality matters most. We're looking for someone who is naturally engaging, friendly, confident, and excited to start conversations with people they don't know.

You should also be able to work independently. Once trained, we expect you to understand the logistics of an assignment, prepare what you need, arrive where you're supposed to be on time, keep things organized, solve routine problems, and complete the job without requiring constant direction.





Previous sales experience is helpful but isn't required if you have the right personality and aptitude.

Location & Transportation

Availability

Store demos can take place on weekday evenings and weekends. Markets take place on weekends.

Applicants must generally be available for at least:

- One weekend day per week and
- A second day on the weekend or weekday evening

We're particularly interested in people whose availability could continue long term and potentially grow over time.

Please only provide availability that you can reliably commit to.

Students

Business and marketing students are particularly encouraged to apply. The role provides direct experience in consumer sales, retail, customer research, merchandising, and the growth of a BC food brand.

Compensation

$23/hour + $25 vehicle expense where applicable.

Additional commission and bonus opportunities may be available during the Christmas and summer market seasons.

About Slow Sunday Foods

We make sauces for everyday meals using BC-grown fruit and recognizable ingredients, with a focus on great flavour and less sugar.

This is a hands-on role in a growing small business. You'll have direct contact with customers and will play an important role not only in generating sales, but in helping us understand what customers respond to and how we can sell better.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract, Internship / Co-op

Pay: $20.00-$26.00 per hour
