Objectives:
The Texas Bed Truck Drivers play a crucial role in ensuring the protected and professional transportation of equipment. Their responsibilities include complying with all policies and procedures set by COSL Canada Ltd., its clients, and relevant provincial & federal government agencies regulations and standards. Operators are expected to adhere to safety protocols, perform inspections and maintenance on their equipment, and collaborate effectively with other team members on-site to ensure smooth and secure operations.
Responsibilities:
- Operate Texas Bed truck to lift, move, load and position equipment or materials according to project requirements.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and preventative maintenance. This includes but not limited to greasing, topping off fluids, & minor repairs.
- Able to assemble and dissemble the Texas bed function to ensure it is ready for highway travel.
- Participate in daily safety & tailgate meetings. Filling out all daily documentation as required.
- Ability to understand the Weight and Vehicle Regulation of Alberta to ensure weights and dimensions of loads are adequate for highway travel.
- Ability to follow Provincial Hours of Service laws and able to effectively fill out a daily driver’s log as per legislation.
- Albe to complete a Daily Vehicle Inspection Report appropriately as per NSC standards.
- Provide training and guidance to Swamper.
- Ability to inspect and slip/winchline when required.
- Report all hazards or near misses to the company representative on site.
- Following Cargo Securement legislation and secure loads using rigging gear (slings, chains, etc.) as per best practices, equipment rating, and NSC standards.
- Follow load weight limits and winching procedures as per manufacturer’s guidelines and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with Swamper, Rig Crews, and Site Supervisors.
- Ensure full compliance at all times with CCL, CCL Clients, Alberta OH&S;, NSC, and other applicable regulations & standards.
- Assist with other site duties as needed (when not operating the Texas bed).
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 education or above.
- Minimum 3 yrs. of previous experience operating a Texas Bed Truck or Larger (330”-425”) Bed Truck.
- Minimum 5 yrs. previous experience working in the Service Work Industry, Completions Service Work Industry, or Drilling Rig Move Industry support role.
- Able to stand and laydown 400-barrel tanks, Cement Silo Tanks, and move around various other loads as required without direct supervision.
- Having a valid class 1 driver license with 5-year commercial clean abstract.
- Strong work ethic and knowledge of the equipment with the ability to troubleshoot complex hydraulic powered equipment is a benefit.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Good communication skills to effectively convey directions, guidance and information.
- Must be legally allowed to work full time in Canada.
- A commitment to safety practices within the workplace.
- Perform light basic maintenance including greasing.
