We are seeking a motivated and dependable Surface Maintenance Labourer to join our energetic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in maintaining and improving surface areas such as roads, parking lots, and walkways. Your energetic approach will ensure that all surfaces are safe, functional, and visually appealing. Duties
- Operate heavy equipment such as skid steers, loaders, and compactors to assist with surface preparation and maintenance tasks
- Pave, patch, and repair asphalt or concrete surfaces to ensure safety and durability
- Assist with construction activities related to roadwork, parking lot expansion, or surface upgrades
- Perform routine inspections of work sites to identify hazards or areas needing attention
- Support team members in setting up work zones, traffic control devices, and safety barriers
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas by removing debris and ensuring proper disposal of waste materials
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to promote a safe working environment at all times
Requirements
- Prior experience in construction or surface maintenance is highly desirable
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and effectively is desirable
- Knowledge of paving techniques and surface repair methods
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license (Class 5) and reliable transportation to get to the shop is required; additional certifications related to equipment operation are a plus
