The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers and X-Terra's Biophysical Team throughout the project lifecycle, from initial project screening and proposal development through field execution, data review, reporting and permitting. The position will primarily support work within Saskatchewan's regulatory framework and may also involve projects in Alberta.

Key Responsibilities

- Complete project screenings to identify environmental sensitivities, survey needs and permitting requirements and to support provincial and federal regulatory compliance.
- Prepare and review regulatory permitting applications, technical reports and environmental assessments, primarily for the oil and gas, utility and mining industries.
- Assist with project administration, scheduling, budgeting, cost tracking and communication of project status, risks and required follow-up.
- Ensure fieldwork is fully documented and uploaded to project-specific files, and review field documentation and data for completeness, accuracy and technical quality.
- Complete data entry in accordance with provincial requirements and company procedures for wildlife and plant surveys, nest sweeps, aquatic and soil assessments, and wetland identification.
- Provide or coordinate GIS support using ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Pro, as required.
- Complete and oversee environmental assessments and monitoring, which may include species specific surveys, nest sweeps, bird surveys, vegetation surveys,

aquatic assessments and wetland identification using the Stewart and Kantrud and Canadian Wetland Classification Systems.
- Provide technical guidance and day-to-day support to junior staff and field teams within the successful candidate's areas of experience.
- Support proposal preparation, including development of project scopes, work plans and cost estimates.
- Actively participate in and demonstrate leadership within X-Terra's Corporate Health and Safety Program.
- Travel to project sites and complete fieldwork as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- A Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in an environmental discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Relevant experience as a field biologist and/or environmental project coordinator. Two or more years of experience is preferred; consulting experience supporting impact assessments, regulatory applications and environmental permitting is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in at least one biological discipline, including wildlife, aquatics or vegetation identification.
- Strong project coordination, organization and data-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic consulting environment.
- Excellent technical writing, review and communication skills, with careful attention to accuracy and technical quality.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, exercise initiative and maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Pro is considered an asset.
- Ability and willingness to travel and complete fieldwork, sometimes in remote locations and under variable field conditions.

Preferred Experience and Assets

- Field experience conducting rare plant surveys using the Saskatchewan Rare Vascular Plant Survey Protocol and/or Guidelines for Rare Vascular Plant Surveys in Alberta.
- Aquatics or fisheries field experience.
- Construction-based environmental monitoring experience and familiarity with typical construction methods and mitigation measures.
- Experience leading field programs, coordinating staff and reviewing technical work.
- Eligibility for, progress toward, or current registration as a P.Biol., P.Ag., R.T.(Ag.) or another designation with equivalent sign-off capabilities.
