Join the Women's Health team at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital as a casual Breast Health Nurse Navigator. Our Breast Health Clinic is a new, community-supported program that keeps breast care close to home for southeast Albertans, from assessment and diagnosis through treatment and recovery. Working with general surgeons, you will be a steady point of contact for patients during a stressful time. You will coordinate care, arrange testing, provide education, and help patients understand their options and access support. This casual role provides relief coverage for the clinic. Provide care coordination and case management for patients referred with a breast cancer diagnosis, BI-RADS 4 or 5 imaging, a palpable lump or other concerning clinical finding, nipple discharge, BRCA1/2 or CHEK2 for prophylactic mastectomy, or chronic breast infection, abscess, or mastitis. Review and prioritize referrals by clinical urgency. Arrange blood work, diagnostic imaging, and follow-up per physician orders; track results to close the loop. Support surgeons during clinic consultations. Provide patient and family education, advocacy, and support with treatment decisions. Refer to Cancer Care Alberta, psychosocial supports, and community resources. Document in Connect Care.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making,
as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
