Sandy’s Riverside Grill is a small neighbourhood bar and grill in Windsor with a solid following of regular customers. We’re looking for an experienced bartender/server to become a reliable part of our core team.
The right person is quick, organized and able to think a few steps ahead. They prepare properly before service, maintain awareness of the whole room and don’t lose track of things when the rush hits. They clean, stock and organize as they work and leave the next shift properly set up.
Because we’re a small restaurant, every person on shift matters. We need someone dependable who takes ownership of their responsibilities and follows through without needing constant direction.
Availability requirements
This position is normally scheduled for 2–3 shifts per week, but broad availability is required.
Applicants must:
- Be available to work both Saturdays and Sundays
- Be available for daytime and evening shifts on both weekend days
- Have additional day and evening availability throughout the week
- Be able to occasionally cover shifts when team members are sick, away or on vacation
- Understand that sick-call coverage may sometimes be on short notice
If you cannot regularly work both Saturday and Sunday, this position will not be a fit.
Broad availability does not mean you will be scheduled every day. It means your regular shifts may vary according to the restaurant’s needs, with opportunities for additional coverage shifts.
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly and attentive bar and table service
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
- Accurately enter orders before serving and process payments
- Maintain awareness of guests, drinks, food and unfinished tasks
- Prioritize effectively when several things need attention
- Prepare and organize the bar and service areas before a shift
- Restock, reset and clean throughout service
- Complete opening, closing and assigned side duties
- Communicate clearly with front- and back-of-house team members
- Leave the restaurant properly organized for the next shift
What we’re looking for
- Previous bartending and table-service experience is required
- Valid Smart Serve certification
- Dependable, punctual and ready to work
- Fast and productive without becoming careless or scattered
- Calm and organized during busy service
- Able to notice and address what needs attention
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team
- Cooperative, accountable and able to take direction
- Friendly and professional with regulars and new customers
We value calm competence, awareness and teamwork over having the biggest personality in the room. We’re looking for someone capable and dependable who makes the shift run better for everyone around them.
