Aero Mag is a company that specializes in aircraft de-icing, the management of de-icing centers and the recycling of used de-icing products. We are looking for a motivated person to fulfill the position of Heavy Duty Mechanic for our location at Edmonton International Airport. The main responsibilities are to ensure that the fleet of de-icing trucks and service vehicles is properly maintained and in good working order.

Main Responsibilities:

· Perform repairs on de-icing trucks, service vehicles and other machinery/equipment useful for operations;

· Perform maintenance of de-icing trucks, service vehicles and other machinery/equipment useful for operations;

· Perform a prescribed preventative maintenance program on the fleet and service vehicles and automobiles;

· Initiate repair cost estimates;

· Perform general overhaul, installation, repair, replacement and adjustment of bearings, ignitions, carburetors, transmissions, differentials, axles, steering mechanisms, drive shafts, fenders, radiators and front end and rear suspension systems;

· Ensure that vehicles are clean and in good working order;

· Immediately report any anomalies or questions to his/her supervisor;

· Complete all necessary documents and reports as required;

· Inspect, diagnose, overhaul, adjust and repair gas and diesel-powered trucks, automobiles, and other power equipment

· Perform work in adherence to safe work practices and procedures and in compliance with applicable standards and specifications,



including to perform work in accordance with and maintain equipment as required;

· Maintain a variety of records, including vehicle identification, date, mileage and nature of each inspection, maintenance, lubrication and repair performed;

· Maintain and document all purchase orders;

· Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Employment standards :

· Ability to meet physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform required duties, such as, climbing equipment , working at heights and lifting minimum 50 pounds;

· Operate tools necessary for mechanic work;

· Possession of a valid and appropriate Driver’s License;

· Be self-directed and work independently.

Essential Skills:

· Must have at least two (2) to four (4) years’ experience in repairing heavy duty diesel trucks;

· Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technical, Automotive or Agricultural;

· Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, electronics and hydraulic systems;

· Experience with Freightliner, Mercedes and/or Volvo type of equipment would be an asset;

· Read and write at a sufficient level to successfully perform the required duties;

· Experience with the Microsoft software suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) is essential;

· Knowledge and experience in electricity, electronics and hydraulics would be an important asset

· Mandatory valid driver's license;

· Mandatory Airport security background check.
