Deli/HMR Clerk

Strathcona Square Sobeys is looking for a part-time Deli Clerk to join our team in a quick paced environment. Serving customers and prepping/cooking food are some of the duties you will be performing on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities

- Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Provide excellent customer service and assist customers with product selection.
- Slice, weigh, package, and label deli meats, cheeses, and other products according to customer requests.
- Prepare sandwiches, salads, trays, and other deli items as required.
- Stock and rotate products to maintain freshness and proper presentation.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures at all times.
- Maintain clean and organized counters, display cases, equipment, and work areas.
- Monitor product quality, freshness, and expiry dates.
- Operate deli equipment safely, including slicers, scales, and other food preparation equipment.
- Follow proper procedures for handling and storing food products.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing deli inventory.
- Maintain attractive product displays and ensure shelves and cases are properly stocked.




- Process customer purchases and handle cash or payment transactions when required.
- Respond to customer questions and resolve concerns in a courteous manner.
- Follow all company policies and health and safety regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Deli Manager or Store Management.

Qualifications & Skills

- Previous deli, food service, or retail experience is an asset but not required.
- Willingness to learn and work as part of a team.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to lift and move products as required.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
