Underwriting Technician in Operations (12-Month Contract)

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Underwriting Technician to join our
growing Operations team in Canada on a 12-month contract, with the possibility of
extension. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the successful candidate will possess
strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

This opportunity is ideal for recent graduates and early-career professionals seeking
to build a career in commercial insurance. The successful candidate will possess
strong organizational, computer, and Microsoft Office skills, a commitment to
accuracy and teamwork, and an interest in the commercial insurance and/or
specialty insurance industry.

Your Responsibilities

 Supporting a small team of full and part-time Operations Associates who’s core functions are to:
record submissions, perform policy and premium data entry, issue policies and invoices for multiple
lines of business

 Assisting with scheduling and delegation of work to the Operations team members
 Policy administration processes
 Ensuring the timely input and accuracy of data into the systems
 Ensuring proper file documentation
 Supporting the Team Lead for Operations
 Regular assistance in monitoring and reporting on the team’s accuracy, timeliness and efficiency
 Support strategic business plans by working in and/or leading smaller projects that are focused on





process improvement and increasing the efficiency of workflows
 Support the various Underwriting departments from within the Operations team
 Underwriting directed approach in developing internal process improvements

Your Profile (Skills, Qualifications & Experience)

 Previous/ related experience preferably in underwriting / assistance experience in property and
casualty or specialty lines LOBs is not required

 Understanding of insurance policy wordings and underwriting methods is a plus
 Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task
 Completion of or working on insurance courses is an asset
 Completion of bachelor’s degree or equivalent would be an asset
 Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word & Outlook)
 Excellent oral and written English communication skills
 French and/or German language skills are considered an asset
 Ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced team environment
 Entrepreneurial and self-motivated

What We Offer

 Hourly rate: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour (37.5 hours per week)
 12-month contract with the possibility of extension based on business needs and performance
 Full-time position with regular office hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
