About the team
The Investment Services team manage over $9 billion in assets primarily used to fund teacher benefits. Our investment professionals use their financial skills to perform the day-to-day operations of the investment program.

What you’ll do
The Analyst, Investment Risk and Compliance supports the oversight of investment risk and compliance for the Federation’s pension and benefit portfolios, ensuring investment activities align with fiduciary responsibilities, policies, risk tolerances, and regulatory requirements. This role monitors public and private market investments, supports risk and compliance reporting,



and contributes to solid governance and informed decision-making in support of long-term plan sustainability and member benefit security.

Responsibilities include:

- Support the ongoing monitoring of investment risk across a diversified, multi-asset portfolio including public and private market investments.
- Conduct risk analysis relative to approved investment policies, risk tolerances, benchmarks, and reference portfolios.
- Contribute to stress testing, scenario analysis, and other risk assessments, including funding volatility, downside risk, and the impact of risk events on long-term outcomes.
- Identify, investigate, and document risk limit breaches or notable risk events, and support escalation and follow-up reporting.
- Assist in enhancing risk monitoring frameworks, tools, and analytics over time.
- Monitor compliance with internal investment policies, mandates, and guidelines approved by the Board and Investment Committee.
- Review portfolio holdings, transaction activity, and external manager reporting from a compliance and risk oversight perspective.
- Maintain tracking and documentation of compliance breaches, exceptions, and corrective actions.
- Support the ongoing refinement of compliance monitoring processes and internal controls.
- Prepare and contribute to regular investment risk and compliance reports for internal management, the Investment Committee, and the Board.
- Assist in developing clear, concise summaries of key risks, trends, and emerging issues.
- Support ad hoc analysis and reporting requests, including those related to audits, actuarial reviews, and governance oversight.
- Support the documentation and maintenance of policies, procedures,



and internal controls related to investment risk and compliance.
- Support continuous improvement of governance practices and reporting standards.

What you’ll bring

- An undergraduate degree in finance, economics or related field, combined with 3-5 years of relevant experience in investment risk, investment compliance, investment operations or institutional investment analysis. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Completed or working towards a professional designation including CFA or FRM is an asset.
- Experience working with institutional investment portfolios.
- Understanding of investment risk concepts, including risk measurement, stress testing and scenario analysis.
- Knowledge of financial practices and relevant legislation and regulations.
- Proficiency in Excel and investment reporting tools; familiarity with risk and performance systems is an asset.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret investment data in a risk and governance context
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to senior stakeholders
- High standard of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
