Estimator / Purchaser

Gamble Lock Door & Glass Inc. is looking for an organized and detail-oriented Estimator / Purchaser to join our team.

This position will play an important role in supporting both our sales and operations teams by preparing accurate estimates, sourcing materials and hardware, obtaining supplier pricing, and ensuring purchase orders are issued correctly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and complete estimates for commercial door, lock, glass, automatic door, and related hardware projects and service work
- Review customer requests, specifications, drawings, site information, and scope of work to determine material and labour requirements
- Send Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to suppliers and manufacturers
- Review and compare supplier pricing, availability, lead times, and product options
- Prepare accurate customer quotations based on material, labour, subcontractor, and other project costs
- Create and send Purchase Orders (POs) for approved hardware, materials, and equipment
- Ensure purchased materials match the specifications and requirements of each project
- Follow up with suppliers regarding pricing, order confirmations, backorders, substitutions, and delivery dates
- Coordinate with project managers, service coordinators, technicians, warehouse staff, and sales staff to ensure materials are ordered correctly and available when required
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, supplier quotations, purchase orders, pricing, and project documentation
- Assist with identifying alternative products or suppliers when required
- Develop and maintain solid relationships with suppliers and manufacturers
- Help maintain accurate and up-to-date material and hardware pricing within our systems

Qualifications

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable working with pricing, quantities, margins, and detailed product information
- Strong written and verbal communication skills




- Ability to manage multiple estimates, RFQs, and purchase orders simultaneously
- Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
- Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, customers, and internal team members
- Experience in purchasing, estimating, construction, building materials, commercial hardware, locksmithing, doors, glass, or a related industry is considered an asset
- Knowledge of commercial door hardware, including locks, closers, exit devices, hinges, automatic door operators, and related products, is a strong asset
- Experience reading architectural drawings, hardware schedules, or specifications is an asset

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is someone who is highly organized, comfortable working with numbers and technical products, and able to take ownership of an estimate or purchasing requirement from start to finish.

You should be comfortable communicating with multiple suppliers, tracking outstanding pricing and orders, and ensuring details are correct before quotations and purchase orders are issued.

This role is well suited to someone with experience in estimating, purchasing, commercial construction, architectural hardware, doors and frames, locksmithing, or building materials who is looking to become an important part of a growing national service organization.

We are looking for someone who can help us continue to improve the accuracy, organization, and efficiency of our estimating and purchasing processes as our business continues to grow.

Pay: $24.00-$32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
