We are looking for an IAM - Authentication & Access Control Specialist to support authentication governance, access control oversight, and cybersecurity compliance initiatives for a leading organization in the agriculture sector based in Calgary, Alberta. This Long-term Contract prospect is well suited to a senior specialist who can evaluate existing practices, strengthen enterprise standards, and partner with technical and business teams to reduce security risk. The role focuses on improving how authentication requirements are defined, assessed, and applied across applications while helping the organization maintain strong control effectiveness and regulatory alignment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine enterprise-wide policies, standards, and supporting guidance related to authentication and access management.
- Examine current application authentication and access control practices to identify inconsistencies, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
- Evaluate exception requests, non-compliance findings, and risk acceptance decisions to support sound security governance.
- Recommend remediation plans and compensating controls where gaps are identified in authentication or access control design.
- Work closely with cybersecurity, IT, compliance, and application stakeholders to collect requirements and confirm assessment results.
- Contribute to the design of governance processes for authentication oversight, including structured exception management practices.
- Map authentication and access control expectations to recognized industry frameworks and established security best practices.
- Assist with audit readiness activities, control reviews, and initiatives that improve control testing and automation.
- Degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity risk, compliance, or governance-focused roles.
- Demonstrated ability to create and maintain security policies, standards, procedures, and governance documentation.
- Strong knowledge of authentication methods, access control models, identity lifecycle management, and privileged access management.
- Hands-on experience performing risk assessments, compliance reviews, and control evaluations.
- Familiarity with IT general controls, audit support, control testing, and control automation practices.
- Experience with enterprise technologies such as Oracle, Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, SailPoint, ServiceNow, and related authentication platforms.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and prioritization skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
