We are looking for an Accountant to support a charitable organization in East York, Ontario with core financial operations and day-to-day accounting activities. This role is well suited to someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working across multiple accounting processes in a mission-driven environment. This is a Long-term Contract position offering the opportunity to contribute to accurate financial reporting and stable accounting support.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate and timely financial records.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure balances are complete and reliable.
- Process accounts payable transactions, including reviewing invoices and coordinating timely payment activities.
- Record and monitor expense accruals to support accurate month-end and period-end reporting.
- Assist with general accounting tasks that contribute to the integrity of the organization’s financial statements.
- Work within accounting software and ERP systems to update records, track transactions, and maintain financial data.
- Support routine financial close activities by organizing documentation and verifying account accuracy.
- Demonstrated experience in accounting roles involving general ledger maintenance and journal entry preparation.
- Hands-on knowledge of accounts payable processes, including invoice review and payment support.
- Experience completing reconciliations with strong attention to accuracy and detail.
- Familiarity with accounting software systems and ERP platforms used for financial processing.
- Solid understanding of core accounting functions, including accruals and period-end support.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a structured finance environment.
