About the Role:

Are you obsessed with TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts? Do you know exactly what hooks an audience in the first 3 seconds? We are looking for a creative, forward-thinking university or college student to join our team as a Social Media Video Creator & Virtual Assistant.

Our brand is a Ottawa-based relationship and parenting education brand with a 570,000+ follower Instagram audience, a top-charting podcast, and a paid membership community. It focuses on a deeply rewarding and trending niche: helping parents build healthy, peaceful, and communicative relationships with each other while remaining connected as a couple and with their children. Your primary mission will be to help brainstorm, edit, and assemble engaging short-form video content that resonates with modern parents facing everyday family dynamics.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):

- Trend Spotting & Ideation: Monitor social media apps daily to find trending audio tracks, viral editing styles, and concepts. Translate those trends into video ideas specifically tailored to parenting and healthy relationship advice.
- Video Editing & Assembly: Take raw video clips, voiceovers, or stock footage and piece them together into snappy, high-retention Reels, TikToks, and Shorts.
- Platform Tool Optimization: Masterfully use appropriate editing apps (such as CapCut, Instagram Edits, Adobe Premiere Rush, InShot, or Canva) to add clean captions, emojis, text overlays, and sound effects.
- Content Organization: Help organize a easy weekly content calendar to ensure our posting schedule stays consistent.

What We’re Looking For:

- We hire on the portfolio, not the résumé. Students, recent grads, and working freelance editors are all a fit. Studies in Marketing, Communications, Media Studies, Psychology,



or PR are an asset, not a requirement — and if you're at Carleton, uOttawa, or Algonquin, we've built this role to work around a class schedule.
- Video Native: A portfolio or personal social media account that demonstrates a solid understanding of basic short-form video editing (including timing, transitions, and pacing).
- Niche Awareness: An interest in or understanding of family dynamics, parenting challenges, psychology, or relationship coaching. You understand how to speak authentically to people in relationships (bonus if you can also speak to parents).
- Tech Savvy: Highly proficient with mobile video editing apps (CapCut is our preferred tool).
- Confidentiality: You'll see unreleased content, offers, and footage. A confidentiality agreement and IP assignment are a condition of the role, provided before your first day.
