We are seeking a dynamic and organized Dispatcher/Customer Service skilled to join our team! Your energetic approach will ensure smooth operations, timely deliveries, and satisfied clients.
Duties
- Dispatch and coordinate drivers for Canada-wide and cross-border loads.
- Assign trucks, trailers, loads, pickup and delivery appointments.
- Plan efficient routes and manage driver schedules.
- Monitor trucks and drivers using GPS/ELD tracking systems.
- Communicate with drivers throughout their trips and provide dispatch instructions.
- Coordinate with customers, brokers, shippers and receivers.
- Track pickups, deliveries, delays and shipment status.
- Handle breakdowns, delays, missed appointments and other operational issues.
- Ensure drivers have required load and transportation documents.
- Coordinate border-crossing and customs documentation when required.
- Monitor driver hours, logs and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with maintenance regarding truck and trailer issues.
- Maintain accurate dispatch, trip and delivery records.
- Provide daily updates to management regarding fleet and load status.
- Follow company safety policies and transportation regulations.
- Reduce empty miles and maximize truck and equipment utilization.
Experience
- Prior experience in transportation management systems (TMS), shipping & receiving, or logistics coordination is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with supply chain operations, third-party logistics (3PL), or freight management enhances your effectiveness in this role.
- Proficiency in data entry, typing, and managing multi-line phone systems ensures quick response times and accurate record keeping.
- Strong analysis skills help interpret shipping data for operational improvements.
- Excellent communication skills combined with professional phone etiquette are essential for success in customer interactions.
- Experience working with shipping documentation, freight scheduling, or related logistics functions will set you up for success.
