Job Summary

We are seeking a strategic, hands-on Human Resources Manager to join our team in St. John’s, NL. In this role, you will partner closely with business leaders to attract, develop, and retain top talent both shore based and at sea, support effective workforce planning and deliver practical, people-first HR solutions that strengthen employee engagement, performance, and business results. You will serve as a trusted advisor to the GM, balancing day-to-day HR support with longer-term talent and organizational priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

Talent Acquisition & Early Talent

- Develop and execute talent acquisition strategies, hiring plans, and proactive talent pipelines aligned to current and future workforce needs.
- Lead end-to-end recruitment for leadership, skilled, highly skilled, and other business-critical roles, using fair, consistent, and effective selection practices.
- Build strong partnerships with hiring leaders to clarify role requirements, define selection criteria, and support timely, high-quality hiring decisions.
- Support divisional student and early talent programs, including campus recruitment, student scholarships, and development programming.

Performance & Talent Management

- Manage the annual performance management cycle, including goal-setting, mid-year check-ins, year-end reviews, and calibration support as applicable.
- Partner with leaders to strengthen performance expectations, feedback practices, and employee development planning.
- Support talent reviews, succession planning, and workforce planning with practical recommendations, market insights, and talent solutions.

Leadership Development & Learning

- Oversee leadership development programming, including coordination and delivery of internal training courses.




- Assess development needs and help design learning experiences that build leadership capability and strengthen team effectiveness.

Employee Relations & Engagement

- Manage employee relations matters, including coaching leaders through performance conversations, investigations (as needed), and issue resolution while ensuring fair and consistent application of policies and practices.
- Support employee engagement initiatives and advise leaders on approaches to strengthen culture, communication, retention, and overall employee experience.

HR Partnership & Operations

- Act as a trusted HR partner to leaders, translating business needs into clear HR actions and solutions.
- Use HRIS and recruitment systems to support accurate documentation, reporting, and process improvement.
- Collaborate with HR colleagues and external partners to deliver consistent, compliant HR support—particularly in a regulated workplace and/or remote workforce context.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience, including talent acquisition, performance management, leadership development, and employee relations.
- CPHR designation is an asset.
- Experience with talent pipelines, succession planning, leadership development, and/or workforce planning is an asset.
- Strong proficiency with HRIS, applicant tracking/recruitment systems, Microsoft Office, and related business tools.
- Strong communication, judgment, and relationship-building skills; ability to partner effectively with candidates, HR teams, leaders, and external providers.
- Experience working in a heavily regulated industry and supporting a remote workforce is preferred.

Pay: $60,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
