About the Role

We are seeking an active, "boots-on-the-ground" Construction Safety Officer with Advanced First Aid and 3–5 years of HSE experience to join our team for a 5-month project in Fort St. John, BC. This is not a desk job—we need a visible on-site presence who can monitor work areas, manage safety metrics, and help maintain site standards in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Maintain a high level of visibility on the construction site; this role requires you to be out of the office and actively monitoring work areas.
- Assist with material movement and general site cleanup to ensure a safe and organized work environment.
- Confidently manage safety documentation, ensuring accurate records of inspections, training sessions, and incident reports are maintained.
- Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards specific to the project site.
- Lead daily toolbox talks and train crew members on safety compliance and proper PPE usage.
- Work closely with site personnel to foster a culture of safety compliance.

Qualifications & Skills:

- Experience: 3–5 years of dedicated HSE experience, with heavy industrial construction experience considered a robust asset.
- Certifications: CSO designation minimum; NCSO or recognized post-secondary safety certificate preferred. Active OFA 3 / Advanced First Aid and WHMIS 2015 are required.
- Competencies:



Strong proficiency with site safety documentation and hazard identification, backed by excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Locality: Must be based locally in Fort St. John or willing to relocate for the full duration of the contract.

Site & Gear Requirements

Candidates are required to bring and wear the following compliant safety gear:

- Electrical Rated Steel Toe Safety Boots
- Fire-Resistant High-Vis Coveralls (ATPV 8 cal rating)
- Type 2 Hard Hat / Headgear
- Safety Glasses & Work Gloves
- High-Visibility Safety Vest & High-Visibility Rain Gear

Work Location & Compensation Details

- Location: In-person — Fort St. John, BC (Local or willing to relocate)
- Schedule: Full-time | 7:00 AM start time
- Starting Rate: $32.00 / hour (paid via Direct deposit)
- Duration: 5-month contract starting early November
