Position Summary:

Church & State Wines – Brentwood Bay is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Bistro Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our Bistro and support our Tasting Room team.

We are looking for a hospitality-driven individual who is passionate about local BC wines, seasonal scratch-made cuisine, and delivering warm, engaging service. The successful candidate will provide strong leadership to the team, maintain high service standards, and help create an exceptional guest experience in a fun, creative, and supportive winery environment.

Bistro Manager Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Bistro and ensure smooth and efficient service.
- Lead, train, supervise, and support Bistro and Tasting Room staff.
- Promote a professional, welcoming, and hospitable environment for guests and team members.
- Ensure staff have strong knowledge of our wines, food offerings, and service standards.
- Coordinate and support winery events, including tastings, tours, private gatherings, and other guest experiences.
- Manage reservations, guest flow, and daily service operations.
- Monitor inventory, stock levels,



and equipment to support efficient operations.
- Assist with menu planning, food cost control, and expense management to support profitability.
- Work closely with the accounting team regarding financial transactions and event deposits.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with local vendors and event partners.
- Support marketing initiatives, including social media and newsletters.
- Ensure compliance with applicable health and safety requirements and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Handle guest concerns and resolve service issues professionally and effectively.
- Lead by example and promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive workplace culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the evolving needs of the business.

Qualifications:

- Minimum 5 years of experience in food and beverage operations, hospitality management, winery operations, or event planning and coordination.
- Previous supervisory or management experience in a restaurant, bistro, winery, or hospitality environment.
- An interest in and knowledge of the local BC wine industry. Wine education or certification such as WSET or Sommelier is an asset.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Professional, energetic, and positive attitude.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to create a welcoming guest experience.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills,



with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a quick-paced environment.
- Experience with inventory management, cost control, and financial administration.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to work effectively with supervisors, peers, vendors, partners, and guests.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and lead a team with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility to work mornings/days/evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Saturday and Sunday availability is required.
