We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled music therapist to join our team at an adult day program in Mississauga, Ontario. The music therapist will utilize the power of music to enhance the quality of life and well-being of our participants through weekly in-person group music therapy sessions.
Schedule & Commitment
This is a part-time contract position requiring approximately 1 hour per week (approximately 4 hours per month).
Sessions are scheduled on a rotating weekday at 10:00 AM, as follows:
- Week 1: Friday at 10:00 AM (first Friday of the month)
- Week 2: Monday at 10:00 AM
- Week 3: Tuesday at 10:00 AM
- Week 4: Thursday at 10:00 AM
The schedule follows this rotation on an ongoing basis.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement music therapy sessions tailored to the unique needs and abilities of the adults.
- Assess participants' progress and adjust therapy plans accordingly.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of therapy sessions and participants' progress.
- Stay current with best practices and research in the field of music therapy.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Therapy from an accredited program. (REQUIRED)
- Membership with the Canadian Association for Music Therapy (MTA) or MT-BC certification. (REQUIRED)
- Registered Psychotherapist, RP or RP(Q), affiliated with the CRPO. (PREFERRED)
- Experience working with adults with special needs.
- Proficiency in playing various musical instruments and facilitating group music therapy experiences.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassion, patience, and empathy for individuals with physical and cognitive challenges.

- Professional liability insurance (REQUIRED)
- Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the past six months (REQUIRED)
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $65.00-$75.00 per hour
Expected hours: 1.0 per week
