ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Computer System Technician- Networking Instructor to join our team at Anderson College’s Windsor campus.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in computer systems, networking, operating systems, server administration, and IT infrastructure, along with the ability to deliver technical concepts through practical demonstrations, labs, and classroom instruction.

Previous experience teaching or training adult learners is considered an asset. The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting mature students in developing the technical knowledge and practical skills required for careers in Information Technology.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a remote position for morning and evening classes for a projected start date on October 5, 2026.

AM Shift (9 a.m. – 2 p.m. EST) and/or Evening Shift (5:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. EST)

To match the required class timings, applicants who have valid credentials to practice/work and resides in the province of Ontario are preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Academic

- Ensure students are taught according to the approved curriculum and program schedule.
- Foster an workplace of cooperation and coordination among instructional staff.
- Communicate student issues, academic concerns, and progress with education leadership.
- Ensure course objectives, labs, assignments, and assessments are completed according to program requirements.

Administrative

- Track and record student attendance and grades in accordance with College policies.
- Attend graduation ceremonies as required.
- Implement and follow policies and procedures established by the College.
- Participate in staff and academic meetings when required.
- Participate in student orientations.
- Maintain accurate records of student meetings and academic progress.
- Complete and submit required academic reports in accordance with College and accreditation standards.

Instructional

- Teach students using a systematic instructional plan consisting of lectures, demonstrations, hands-on labs, discussions, interactive activities, independent work, and group projects.




- Deliver technical instruction in computer hardware, operating systems, networking, servers, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, Linux, PowerShell, Python, and related IT technologies.
- Demonstrate the installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computer systems and network infrastructure.
- Supervise and support students during technical labs, troubleshooting activities, simulations, and practical projects.
- Inform students in advance of the criteria upon which their performance will be evaluated.
- Organize and effectively use classroom and lab time.
- Use instructional techniques that recognize and accommodate different student learning needs and abilities.
- Modify instructional techniques when appropriate to support student learning.
- Assist students in developing effective learning, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving skills.
- Implement approved course outlines and daily instructional breakdowns.
- Establish a professional classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Maintain fair, firm, and consistent classroom expectations.
- Regularly monitor student progress and provide appropriate academic support.
- Prepare instructional materials, demonstrations, labs, and course resources.
- Prepare, administer, and grade assignments, practical assessments, tests, and examinations.
- Provide individualized tutorial or remedial instruction to students who require additional support.
- Supervise independent and group technical projects.
- Evaluate students according to College guidelines and approved course requirements.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of student performance.
- Ensure evaluation records and grades are regularly updated in the College's learning management systems.
- Provide timely feedback to students regarding their academic and technical progress.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation in all areas of responsibility.
- Maintain professional certifications or registrations where applicable.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

- Diploma, advanced diploma, bachelor's degree, or other recognized post-secondary credential in Computer Systems Technology, Information Technology, Computer Networking, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Systems Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant industry experience in areas such as IT support, systems administration,



network administration, server administration, technical support, or IT infrastructure.
- Strong practical knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, networking, and troubleshooting.
- Previous teaching, training, mentoring, or instructional experience is considered an asset.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Server+, Cloud+, Linux+, Data+, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft, or equivalent certifications are considered strong assets.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

The successful candidate should have knowledge and practical experience in several of the following areas:

- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and technical troubleshooting.
- Experience with networking concepts, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, and wireless networks.
- Knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and system administration.
- Working knowledge of Linux, PowerShell, cloud technologies, and cybersecurity fundamentals.
- Intermediate knowledge of Python programming and data analytics.
- Ability to configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computers, servers, and network environments.
- CompTIA, Cisco and Microsoft technologies and certification content is considered an asset.
- Ability to conduct and supervise hands-on technical labs and practical exercises.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

- Microsoft Office Suite
- Microsoft Teams and related Microsoft 365 applications
- Learning Management Systems and online instructional platforms
- Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills

- Deliver technical concepts clearly to students with different levels of IT experience.
- Deliver lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on technical instruction.

- Communicate effectively with students, internal staff, and external community members.
- Adapt teaching methods to different learning styles and levels of technical knowledge.
