The City of Côte Saint-Luc is looking for dynamic individuals to join its team. We take pride in providing the highest level of service to our residents. We are currently seeking a vibrant and energetic Library Technician who is passionate about public service and eager to make a difference in our community by enhancing the quality of library services.
* Work Schedule
This is a part-time position of 21 hours per week, including up to two evening shifts (from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.) and one weekend shift.
* It is important to note that this schedule requires flexibility, as the candidate may be asked to work another weekday or an additional evening.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist patrons in locating library materials
- Perform basic bibliographic searches
- Respond to reference questions at the reference desk
- Answer directional questions related to library programs and services
- Assist users with technology-related questions regarding their devices and our digital resources
- Aid in the creation of bibliographies, handouts, and displays
- Perform technical tasks related to bibliographic data in the library catalogue
- Supervise the library during evenings and weekends in the absence of senior staff; support clerks in handling challenging situations
- Assist librarians in maintaining collections, including books, periodicals, newspapers, audiovisual, and other materials (e.g., shelf reading)
- Help maintain the physical appearance of the library
- Provide basic troubleshooting and assistance with library equipment (e.g., printers, photocopiers, laptops)
Required Qualifications
- Enrolled in or completed a Master of Information Studies (or equivalent), or
- Possess a DEC in Information and Library Technologies (or equivalent)
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Proficiency with information services technology, including internet and standard electronic reference tools
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and common software applications
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and work in a rapid-paced environment
- Strong customer service and teamwork skills
- Good problem-solving abilities
- Excellent oral communication skills in both English and French
- Interest in readers’ advisory services, technology, and social media

Candidates may be required to complete competency and language proficiency assessments in both French and English.
