Job Overview

Seeking reliable, mature and experienced Educational Assistants to join a small team who work at a private school working with students with autism, learning disabilities and mild intellectual disabilities. You will be supporting students in class and in 1:1 learning environments, helping make the curriculum more accessible to those with different learning styles. This is not a behavior management role, it is a teaching/tutoring role.

This position is suitable for those with related experience including ABA therapists, DSW, SSW or CYC grads, or those with skilled experience working with older elementary school aged children. You must be organized, able to work at a fast pace, have excellent written and oral English skills. The ability to multitask and learn things quickly is essential.

Hours are yet to be confirmed, but you must be able to work from 8:45-3pm. Available hours are anywhere from 15 to 20 per week.

Note these are not full time roles and are independent contractor positions, meaning that you will work for and be paid by the individual families rather than the school.





A firm commitment until June is required.

A car is an asset as transportation to the school by bus is not reliable.

Requirements

- Prior classroom experience or hands-on experience working with children in educational settings
- Ability to communicate effectively: strong oral and written English skills
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in special education environments preferred
- Strong organizational skills
- Basic knowledge of academic concepts taught in grades 3-8
- Car or reliable transportation to Kanata
