Established in 2007, Splatsin Development Corporation manages the economic interests of the Splatsin First Nations throughout the Secwepemcúlecw (Shuswap). Yucwmenlúcwu (Caretakers of the Land) LLP is a full-service Heritage, Environmental, and Forestry resource management company based in Enderby, BC. We are a subsidiary of the Splatsin Development Corporation, an economic development corporation wholly owned by Splatsin. Our foundation of approach is “Caretakers of the Land.”

Current Opportunity: We’re hiring an Accountant. The accountant position reports to the Director of Finance and plays a vital role in ensuring the financial integrity and operational efficiency of SDC. This position provides essential support to the accounting and finance team by performing a variety of accounting functions, financial reporting, and project management system tasks.
The role requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong accounting background, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Key responsibilities include assisting with financial statement preparation, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting accounts management, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. While primarily focused on accounting tasks, the role may occasionally provide support for payroll-related functions as needed.
The successful candidate will work from SDC’s main office,
contributing to a collaborative team environment and helping the organization achieve its financial objectives
Responsibilities
Accounting and Financial Reporting
- Maintain accurate books on accounts payable and receivable.
- Process daily financial entries and reconciliations to ensure data accuracy.
- Prepare and process monthly financial reporting, including general ledger entries.
- Record payments and adjustments promptly and accurately.
- Accurately enter invoices and process incoming payments in Accounts Receivable.
- Perform general ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
Payroll and Compliance Support
- Assist with payroll processing as required, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulations.
- Assist with WCB reporting, reconciliation, and claims.
Project Management System (PMS)
- Manage PMS user access, billing rates, and expense codes to ensure proper configuration.
General Accounting and Support
- Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts by providing accurate financial data.
- Assist with year-end audit preparation and liaise with external auditors as needed.
- Handle special projects, responsibilities, and other duties as assigned.
- Provide additional support to the Finance team as required to meet organizational goals.
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports and insights to support strategic planning.
- Collaborate on process improvements and the implementation of best practices to enhance efficiency.
- Collaborate across departments to provide financial insights and support.
- Mentor team members on accounting processes when required.
- Foster a positive and professional work environment through effective communication and teamwork.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
- CPA or actively working toward CPA designation is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge and experience working with a First Nations organization.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, standards (e.g., GAAP/IFRS), and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience with general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
- Knowledge of accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice entry, payment processing, and account management.
- Solid analytical skills to ensure the accuracy of financial records and reporting.
- Ability to handle complex financial data and ensure consistency across multiple systems and processes.
- Familiarity with budgeting and forecasting processes, supporting financial planning and analysis.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work under pressure.

Pursuant to section 16 of the Canadian Human Rights Act preference may be given to applicants of aboriginal ancestry. Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
