Are you passionate about supporting children and helping create inclusive, engaging environments where every child can thrive? Milestones Children's Centre is seeking a dedicated Program Assistant to help enrich the experiences of young children and support our commitment to inclusion, learning, and belonging.

As a Program Assistant, you will provide additional support within our programs to ensure all children have meaningful opportunities to participate and succeed. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working collaboratively, values child-centered learning, and is committed to making a positive impact in children's lives.

Position Summary The Program Assistant will demonstrate competence and dedication to the care and education of young children by providing additional support to the program to ensure that inclusion exists for all children.

All responsibilities will be carried out within the framework of the vision, mission, and values of Milestones Children's Centre, as well as in accordance with MCC policies and procedures, the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, the Child Care Centre Licensing Manual, and How Does Learning Happen?

Key Responsibilities

- Demonstrate an understanding of MCC Policies and Procedures and the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014.
- Collaborate with a team to implement developmentally appropriate activities in an inclusive environment for all children.(Program Assistants are not included in program ratios.)
- In challenging situations, work with your team to determine appropriate behaviour guidance strategies and interventions.
- Partner with co-workers and the Resource Consultant to promote the inclusion and success of all children.




- Demonstrate a robust commitment to the role through reliability, punctuality, attendance, and a positive, enthusiastic approach to your work.

Qualifications & Skills

Competency Skills

We're looking for candidates who demonstrate:

- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Reliability and professionalism.
- Flexibility and adaptability.
- A solid foundation in positive behaviour guidance.
- Experience working with children with developmental disabilities is considered an asset.

Minimum Qualifications

- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma.
- Experience working with children.
- Standard First Aid/CPR Level C certification.
- Criminal Reference Check (Vulnerable Sector) completed within the past six months.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a B.Ed., CYW, DSW, Recreation & Leisure, or RECE designation, or to those with experience supporting children with developmental delays and/or behavioural challenges.

Compensation Wage: Between $20.50 and $21.49 per hour, plus:

- $1.00/hour city-provided wage enhancement.
- $2.08/hour provincial wage enhancement.

Starting wage will be determined based on education and experience. Please note: Meetings, professional learning time, and orientation are not eligible for the provincial wage enhancement.

Paid Orientation

Paid online and in-person orientation prior to your start date.

Contract Term

ASAP to December 31,



2026 with potential for renewal in January through until the end of the school year based on funding availability.

There may be additional employment opportunities available beyond the end of this contract.

Schedule

After School Program Only

- Monday to Friday
- 2 hours per day after school
- Scheduled between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
- One morning staff meeting per month

Possible Additional Hours Opportunities may be available for those seeking extra work:

- Up to 8 hours per day during non-instructional days, including PD Days, Spring Break, and Summer Camp.
- Casual supply opportunities within our School Age Programs and Children's Centres in Aylmer and St. Thomas, outside of the regular contract schedule.
