ASI is seeking Field Technicians to support archaeological field projects throughout Ontario, conducting Stage 2–4 archaeological assessments. This is a physically demanding field-based role requiring work in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.

Our Burlington Office is hiring Field Technicians for crews commuting out of Burlington and Hamilton.

Responsibilities include:

- Assist in the completion of Stage 2 – 4 archaeological assessments under the direction of a Field Director.
- Conduct field walking and test pit surveys, unit and feature excavations, including identifying and recording stratigraphy, and collecting and bagging artifacts.
- Perform physically demanding tasks, including walking long distances, standing for extended periods, bending, kneeling, and lifting or carrying objects up to 50 lbs.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and communicate in an effective and professional manner.
- Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts and assignments.
- Demonstrate professionalism and respect when working on culturally sensitive sites and during Indigenous engagement.





Qualifications

Required:

- High school diploma, or equivalent.
- Ability to work primarily outdoors in physically demanding conditions.
- Ability to travel to designated meeting points for project deployment
- Robust attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel throughout Ontario, including overnight stays and travel by vehicle or other required modes of transportation.

Preferred:

- Post-secondary studies in a related field.
- Experience in conducting archaeological assessments.
- Familiarity with the MCMs Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists and its associated Technical Bulletins.
- Experience working in outdoor conditions.

Pay: From $23.08 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 – 48.0 per week
