Working within the mission, vision, values and person-centred philosophy of the Agency, the Assistant Manager supervises Directions Youth Services Centre program staff, including selection, performance management, discipline and dismissal.
The role supervises case management: plans, develops, implements, and oversees client engagement strategies and the creation of individual service plans for youth. With the support of the program management, the Assistant Manager plans, develops, implements, and oversees the ongoing day-to-day operation of the program. It actively supports the Agency’s awareness and goals around diversity and inclusion.

training and experience Awareness of community services, resources and systems and ability to work with these; competence in working with a multi-cultural community A committed ability to keep informed about evolving trends and practices, share knowledge, and support staffto integrate innovation into the delivery of quality care/services Strong ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop, manage and evaluate clinical programs considering client needs, service delivery interrelationships, and service potential within a complex environment Ability to understand available resources for program and keep quality in the forefront of all resource utilization decisions; providing feedback and detailed analysis on budget variances, and making recommendations for corrective action Thorough knowledge of adolescent development, at-risk youth and the child welfare system Solid working knowledge of addictions and mental health Collaborative case management and strong advocacy skills Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check Current First Aid, Food Safe Level 1, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificates are an asset We believe in the power of inclusion and the power of enabling all our staff to thrive by embracing diversity and fostering equality. Services is a division of Family Services of Greater Vancouver (FSGV), which for more than 90 years has provided a variety of essential resources for children, families, and individuals in the Greater Vancouver community. We believe in the resiliency of Vancouver’s youth who are at-risk, homeless, and street-involved. We assist youth under the age of 25 to get counselling for trauma, mental health, or substance issues.
Our teams strive to create spaces and build connections with youth who are facing challenges of street life, substance use, mental health concerns, and disconnection from their communities. Directions inclusive programs of shelter and drop-in, safe houses, and other unique programs are committed to being a community leader in harm reduction work and fostering low-barrier spaces where all youth are welcome.
