Milton Banquet & Conference Centre is seeking an experienced, hands-on Banquet Captain/Event Supervisor to lead the execution of weddings, corporate functions and social events.

This is an event-day leadership position for someone who has previously supervised banquet functions and can confidently take an event from setup through final closing. The successful candidate must be comfortable directing a team while also working alongside them throughout setup, service, cleaning and teardown.

Responsibilities

- Review event details, timelines, room layouts and service requirements
- Confirm event spaces are properly set and ready before guests arrive
- Conduct pre-event meetings and assign responsibilities to servers, bartenders and support staff
- Lead banquet service and maintain proper timing, presentation and service standards
- Coordinate food timing, expo and dietary requirements with the chef and kitchen team
- Communicate with clients and respond professionally to event-day requests or concerns
- Monitor staff performance and provide direction throughout the event
- Ensure tables, service areas, washrooms and guest spaces remain clean and organized
- Direct and participate in teardown, cleaning and room resets
- Ensure furniture, equipment, linens and service supplies are returned to their designated storage areas
- Complete a final walkthrough and confirm all assigned spaces are properly closed
- Report damages, shortages, incidents and operational concerns to management

Required Experience and Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Banquet Captain, Banquet Supervisor or comparable event leader
- Proven experience independently leading banquet or catered events from setup through closing
- Strong knowledge of banquet service, event timing and food-and-beverage operations
- Experience directing servers, bartenders and support staff




- Confident communication, organization and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during busy events
- Willingness to work directly alongside the team during setup, service and cleaning
- Valid Smart Serve certification
- Ability to perform physical event work, including standing for extended periods and moving tables, chairs and equipment
- Reliable transportation to our Milton location
- Flexible availability, particularly Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and late evenings

Position Details
- Permanent, part-time and year-round
- Approximately 15–30 hours per week, depending on event bookings
- Event-driven schedule, including evenings, weekends and late-night closes
- Weekly schedules provided with advance notice of upcoming events
- $24–$27 per hour, based on experience
- Pooled gratuities on eligible events
- Additional venue-operation hours may be available

About Us Milton Banquet & Conference Centre is an established wedding, event and catering venue located on 36 acres in Milton. We host weddings, corporate functions, celebrations, public dining experiences and catered events across multiple indoor and outdoor event spaces.
