Redeemer University is looking for a faculty member with a passion for God’s good creation to serve students in our Biology and Environmental Science Programs. Applicants should have a background in one or more of ecology, field biology, organismal biology, plant science, conservation biology, or environmental biology.
The Position
Redeemer University invites applications for a faculty position in the Biology and Environmental Science programs starting July 2027. Candidates must possess a relevant MSc or PhD degree and be aligned with and passionate about Redeemer’s Christian mission of teaching from a Christian worldview. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative colleague who will contribute meaningfully to our students, programs, and Christian academic community, and have a demonstrated record (or show potential) of excellence in undergraduate teaching.
Individuals interested in teaching less than full time are also encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include teaching, research and collaborating with colleagues to help build and grow our programs. Ideal candidates will have a passion for teaching and mentoring undergraduate students. Courses include:
- Fundamentals of Biology II
- Ecology and Evolution
- Flora and Fauna or Southern Ontario
- Field Biology
- Plant Physiology
- Senior Seminar
- Senior Research Projects
Faculty will also be encouraged to do research in an ecology-related field and foster our ongoing relationships with local agencies (e.g. A Rocha (Ontario) the Royal Botanical Gardens,
and the Hamilton Conservation Authority).
Application Process
As a liberal arts and sciences university rooted in the Reformed tradition of Christianity, we seek candidates committed to this framework. Applicants should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae and evidence of teaching quality. In the letter of application, include the names of three individuals who have agreed to provide letters of reference should the applicant advance to a later stage of the process.
In addition to these materials, applicants must include a 1-page to 2-page document describing their own Christian faith commitment and practice, its alignment with Redeemer’s mission and its impact on their academic and qualified work. A range of qualifications will be evaluated, including distinguishing characteristics that demonstrate congruence with Redeemer’s identity as a university in the Protestant and particularly Reformed Christian tradition.

Salary range: $75,166 - $113,625
