Position: Café Kitchen Lead

Position Status: Existing Vacancy- Permanent

Hours: 37.5hrs per week,Monday to Friday daytime schedule

Salary: Salary $21.00 to $23.00 per hour based on experience

Anticipated Start Date: Tuesday October 13, 2026

Compensation and Benefits

Mileage Reimbursement for approved work-related use of personal vehicle, Vacation- 3 weeks per year, Paid sick leave, Extended health care and dental benefits

Education: Highschool Diploma or Equivalent (GED), Valid Food Handler Certification, Culinary Arts or Cook training Certification is a plus but not required.

Job Requirements

· 2 years recent and relevant experience working in a café, restaurant, bakery or commercial kitchen, hands-on experience preparing and cooking food, ordering and managing kitchen inventory, familiar with kitchen equipment and food prep tools.

· Experience working in an setting with vulnerable populations is considered an asset.

· Proven ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within a team environment.

· A clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check- within three (3) months.

· Language Requirements; Fluent in English oral, reading and writing.





Transportation/Travel: A valid Driver’s License with appropriate insurance, clean driving record, with a minimum G2 and must have a reliable vehicle.

Qualifications:

- 2 years of hands-on experience in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen management within the café or restaurant industry.
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on creating memorable experiences.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food handling.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and customers.
- Organized, dependable and able to work independently.
- Positive attitude and team oriented.

· Meets physical requirements of the job and flexible to changing job demands.

· A passion for food and commitment to continuous improvement within the kitchen.

· Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

· Respects the rights and privacy of co-op members.

· Legally entitled to work in Canada.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and cook breakfast, lunch and baked items according to cafe standards.
- Maintain high levels of food safety and sanitation practices in compliance with health regulations.




- Ensure food is prepared on-time and monitor food presentation and portion control to ensure consistency and quality.
- Manage inventory, including shopping, ordering supplies and minimizing waste.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless service during busy periods.
- Handle customer inquiries and feedback professionally to enhance guest satisfaction.
- Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal ingredients and trends.
- Assist in receiving, storing and rotating kitchen supplies.
- Maintain a clean, organized kitchen and café environment.
- Bring creativity and passion to a space that values community and comfort.
- Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, creativity, and professional growth.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements: Hands on café kitchen focused on fresh, homemade food, standing for most of the shift and performing tasks that require bending, reaching and lifting, must be able to lift up to 30lbs safely, working with standard kitchen equipment, some shopping or picking up ingredients and supplies.
