Position Status: Permanent Full-Time

Hours of Work: 35 hours weekly; flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends based on operational needs

Location: R.H Murray Child Care Site, 3 Henry Street, Whitefish, ON P0M 3E0

Salary: $ 59,150 per year (in accordance with organizational salary grid; annual increases as per grid progression)

Job Summary:

The Child Care Supervisor is responsible for the overall leadership, operation, administration, and quality of an assigned child care site. Reporting to the Director, Child Care Services & Pedagogy, the Supervisor provides leadership to educators and support staff while ensuring high-quality, inclusive, and compliant early learning and child care programs. The Supervisor plays a key role in supporting employee success, fostering a positive workplace culture, and ensuring high-quality experiences for children and families.

key Responsibilities:

- Providing day-to-day operational leadership and oversight of site operations, staffing, scheduling, health and safety, and regulatory compliance;
- Supervising, mentoring, coaching, and supporting staff to promote professional growth, team effectiveness, and high-quality programming;
- Fostering positive relationships with children, families, community partners, and stakeholders through open communication and responsive service;
- Ensuring compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), licensing requirements, organizational policies, and professional standards;




- Supporting pedagogical excellence through the implementation of How Does Learning Happen?, the College of Early Childhood Educators Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, and OCOF/Nena's Culture of Caring;
- Managing administrative responsibilities including documentation, reporting, payroll approvals, enrollment management, and internal systems;
- Monitoring site budgets, staffing ratios, enrollment trends, and resource utilization to support operational effectiveness and sustainability; and
- Contributing to organizational initiatives, continuous improvement efforts, and collaborative partnerships that enhance services for children and families.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, along with a commitment to fostering inclusive, child-centred learning environments and supporting employee success. Qualifications & SKILLS:

1. Education & Certificates

· Post-Secondary Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE) from a recognized institution; · Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) and in good standing;

· Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C (or willingness to obtain);

· Current Food Handlers (or willingness to obtain);

· Current Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check (within 6 months);

· Current valid Ontario class “G” driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (required).

2. Experience

· Minimum 3-5 years of child care experience in a licensed child care environment.

· Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, mentoring, or team coordination experience is considered an asset.

· Strong knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), licensing requirements, and the College of Early Childhood Educators Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.

3. Skills

· Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills;

· Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and support staff development;

· Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills;





· Ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced workplace;

· Strong understanding of child-centred and inclusive learning practices;

· Ability to work collaboratively with families, community partners, and multidisciplinary teams;

Additional considerations:

· Regular travel within the service area is required to support program operations, family engagement, meetings, community partnerships, and organizational needs.

· Fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and competing demands.

· Ability to lift and carry up to 16 kg (40 lbs); frequent bending, floor play, cleaning, and room setup/take-down.

· Regular cleaning and sanitization duties in accordance with organizational policies and health and safety requirements.

· Flexibility to respond to operational needs as they arise.
