Arts in Motion is looking for an organized, efficient and caring Childcare Centre Cook to join our team for a maternity leave position, taking ownership of preparing nutritious meals and snacks for the children in our centre.

Our kitchen is a busy place! Each day, you’ll prepare a hot lunch and two snacks for our classrooms while helping us maintain the high standards of quality, cleanliness and care our families expect.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Food Preparation & Kitchen Operations

- Prepare and serve a hot lunch and two snacks daily for children throughout the centre
- Follow established menus, recipes, portions and meal schedules
- Prepare food efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Maintain an organized, clean and well-functioning kitchen
- Monitor food inventory and assist with weekly ordering and grocery planning
- Receive, organize and properly store food deliveries
- Weekly pickup of wholesale orders may occasionally be required; access to a vehicle is an asset, but not required

Health, Safety & Allergies

- Maintain high food safety, sanitation and kitchen cleanliness standards
- Follow all applicable food handling and childcare health and safety requirements
- Carefully manage food allergies, dietary restrictions and individual child needs




- Ensure allergy information is followed accurately during food preparation and service
- Maintain appropriate food storage, labelling, temperatures and rotation
- Communicate with leadership and families when needed regarding allergies or dietary requirements

Organization & Administration

- Maintain accurate receipts and food-cost information
- Assist with tracking and reporting food expenses
- Keep menu information and front-entry menu signage current
- Help ensure food ordering and inventory remain organized and within established budgets

Previous experience in food preparation, commercial kitchens, childcare or similar environments is an asset. Food Safety/Food Handler certification is required. Successful candidates will be required to meet all applicable requirements for working within a licensed childcare setting.
