Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Lab Technician to join our team at Lovegrove Dermatology. This role is ideal for a professional with strong phlebotomy and administration skills, organizational abilities, and attention to detail. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and supporting clinical research activities. Experience in clinical research is an asset.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigator, research coordinators, clinical staff, study sponsors, monitors, and other members of the clinic team.

The role combines clinical research administration, study coordination support, patient scheduling and communication, laboratory/specimen responsibilities, documentation, and regulatory support.

Previous clinical research experience is an asset; however, candidates with strong laboratory, healthcare, or medical administrative experience who are interested in developing their clinical research skills are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Research & Study Support

- Assist with day-to-day coordination of clinical research studies.
- Support participant pre-screening, recruitment, scheduling, study visits, and follow-up.
- Assist research coordinators and investigators with study-related procedures and activities within the individual's qualifications and scope.
- Collect and enter study data accurately and within required timelines.
- Maintain complete and accurate source documentation, study files, and research records.
- Assist with preparation for sponsor monitoring visits, audits, and study inspections.
- Communicate with study sponsors, monitors, laboratories, couriers, and other research partners.
- Track study activities, participant visits, outstanding documentation, and study deadlines.
- Assist with study start-up, maintenance,



and close-out activities.
- Follow study protocols, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Clinical Practice (GCP), privacy requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Laboratory & Specimen Support

- Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection where qualified and permitted.
- Prepare, process, package, document, and ship clinical research specimens according to study protocols and laboratory manuals.
- Maintain accurate specimen collection and shipping records.
- Coordinate laboratory shipments and courier pickups.
- Maintain laboratory supplies and study-specific collection kits.
- Monitor and document required laboratory equipment and storage conditions.
- Assist with maintaining appropriate organization and storage of research materials.

Administrative & Organizational Support

- Schedule research participants and coordinate study visits.
- Communicate professionally with research participants regarding appointments and study requirements.
- Maintain organized electronic and paper research records.
- Assist with preparation and maintenance of study binders and regulatory documentation.
- Assist with Research Ethics Board (REB), sponsor, and regulatory documentation as required.
- Support completion and filing of study correspondence, training records, delegation documentation, and other essential study documents.
- Assist with tracking study supplies, equipment, investigational product documentation, and other research inventory as appropriate.
- Support the research team with general administrative duties and ongoing study organization.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with clinic privacy and safety requirements.

Required Skills & Experience:





Candidates may have education and/or experience in one or more of the following areas:

- Medical Laboratory Technician/Assistant or related laboratory training (required);
- Medical Office/Healthcare Administration;
- Clinical research or research administration;
- Other relevant healthcare education or experience.

Previous clinical research experience is considered an asset.

Phlebotomy experience is required.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable communicating with patients, physicians, study sponsors, monitors, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ability to follow detailed study protocols and written procedures.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Experience with electronic medical records or electronic research systems is an asset.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to adapt to changing study protocols, sponsor requirements, and research timelines.
- Commitment to patient confidentiality, professionalism, and high-quality clinical research.

Pay: $27.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
