SUMMARY DESCRIPTIONThe Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA) is seeking a relationship-focused Member Recruitment Coordinator to support membership growth across the provincial associations. Working closely with the provincial associations, this national role is responsible for implementing membership recruitment and retention initiatives that strengthen and grow our collective membership.
The Member Recruitment Coordinator will lead national recruitment campaigns, support the re-engagement of lapsed members, and help communicate the value of membership to prospective and existing members. Success in this role will be built on collaboration, strong communication, and a commitment to ensuring that national efforts complement and support the work already being undertaken by the provincial associations.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIESMembership Recruitment and Retention• Develop and implement national membership recruitment campaigns in partnership with provincial associations.
- Support the recruitment of new members by promoting the value and benefits of membership to prospective industry professionals and businesses.
- Coordinate and execute targeted outreach initiatives to re-engage lapsed members and encourage membership renewal.
- Conduct member interviews and feedback campaigns to better understand member needs, identify opportunities for improvement, and support retention efforts.
- Work collaboratively with provincial Executive Directors to establish and achieve annual membership growth objectives.
Annual recruitment targets include:
- Landscape Ontario (LO): 300 new members
- Alberta Nursery Landscape Association (LANTA):
40 current members
- Saskatchewan Nursery Landscape Association (SNLA): 5 new members
- BC Landscape & Nursery Association (BCLNA): 40 new members (in support of existing provincial resources)
- Manitoba Nursery Landscape Association (MBNLA): 30 new members
- Landscape New Brunswick (LNB): 30 new members
- Prince Edward Island Nursery Landscape Association (PEI): 5 new members
- Landscape Nova Scotia (LNS): 20 new members
- Landscape Newfoundland and Labrador (LNL): 20 new members
Member Engagement and Value Communication• Support the promotion of CNLA and provincial programs, services, and initiatives that contribute to member success.
- Ensure provincial associations are informed of recruitment and outreach activities through regular communication and reporting.
- Collaborate with the Certification Committee and provincial partners to promote certification and professional development opportunities across Canada.
Outreach and Relationship Building• Build positive relationships with prospective, current, and former members through direct outreach and engagement.
- Represent CNLA at industry events, trade shows, conferences, and meetings as required.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen member engagement and improve the overall membership experience.
PERFORMANCE MEASURESThe success of the Coordinator will be measured against the following quantifiable outcomes:
- Achievement of annual membership recruitment targets.
- Net membership growth across participating provincial associations.
- Lapsed member renewal and re-engagement rates.
- Member outreach and engagement activity.
- Effectiveness of recruitment and retention campaigns.
- Timely delivery of monthly and quarterly progress reports to the Member Services & Administration Manager and provincial Executive Directors.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLSEducation and Experience• Experience in membership services, business development, sales, marketing, customer relations, or association management.
- Experience working within a not-for-profit, association, or member-based organization is considered an asset.
Skills and Abilities• Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and teams across Canada.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and achieve measurable objectives.
- Proficiency with CRM and database management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and other relevant technology platforms.
Additional Requirements• Valid driver's license and ability to travel within Canada as required.
- Flexibility to attend industry events, conferences, board meetings, and member engagement activities.
