Fredericton, NB The Commercial Relationship Manager provides commercial banking services to current and potential commercial branch members. The role also manages a portfolio of assigned commercial borrowing members and ensures all assigned activities are completed in compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities Of The Role Include
- Member Service & Commercial Loan Administration
- Manages an assigned portfolio of commercial borrowing members and authorize loans within established lending authority.
- Conducts member interviews to identify banking and financing needs.
- Analyzes financial information and assess creditworthiness.
- Completes commercial loan applications, renewals, and related documentation.
- Provides financial guidance and recommend appropriate lending, deposit, and ancillary products.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with members and centres of influence, including lawyers, brokers, appraisers, and realtors.
- Commercial Loan Administration
- Conducts credit investigations, security inspections, and related due diligence activities.
- Oversees commercial loan administration processes, including commitment letters, security registration, and account reviews.
- Monitors portfolio performance and initiate collection activities when required.
- Maintains accurate records and portfolio management systems.
- Completes annual reviews and ongoing monitoring of assigned commercial lending relationships.
- Member Advice
- Builds and strengthens commercial banking relationships to support portfolio growth and member retention.
- Identifies opportunities to attract new members and deepen existing relationships through referrals, cross-selling, and business development activities.
- Participates in networking and community events to promote Brunswick Credit Union's products and services.
- Supports the achievement of commercial banking sales and growth objectives.
- Risk Management & Compliance
- Monitors commercial lending activities and portfolio performance to ensure sound risk management practices.
- Reviews and manages high-risk lending accounts as appropriate.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains current knowledge of industry trends, lending practices, and regulatory changes.
The ideal candidate will have successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration plus have 3- 5 years industry experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The Following Technical Skills Would Be Considered An Asset
- Advanced knowledge of commercial lending practices and financial principles
- Advanced knowledge of products and services
- Advanced knowledge of policies and regulatory environment
- Advanced communication skills (oral, written)
- Advanced in relationship building skills
- Proficient in reading financial statements
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 365 applications
- Proficient critical thinking, ability to make decisions and exercise sound judgment
- Proficient attention to detail
- Proficient in sales, promotion and referrals
