THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Director of Advocacy, the Coordinator, Policy and Committees will support CIPH’s expanding work in advocacy and policy development, including researching and preparing policy briefs, position papers, and regulatory submissions. This newly created position offers an early career policy qualified the opportunity to help shape policy and advocacy for Canada’s $21-billion dollar plumbing industry. The Coordinator, Policy and Committees will also work directly with members and support multiple member committees by preparing agendas, meeting minutes, and general documentation.
Core Responsibilities
· Coordinate member committees, including scheduling, agenda preparation, meeting minutes, and general documentation
· Research and prepare policy briefs, regulatory submissions, and position papers
· Monitor, analyze, and report to the Director on political, legislative, and regulatory developments that could impact the sector
· Support the development and execution of CIPH’s advocacy initiatives, including drafting messaging, government submissions,
and government correspondence
- Coordinate and support meetings with government officials, members, and other industry associations, including scheduling, preparing written materials, and drafting follow-ups
- Monitor member concerns and proactively identify potential issues to Director of Advocacy to help prevent or mitigate escalations
Position requirements: · Completion of a post-secondary degree in public policy, political science, economics or another relevant field (Research experience is an asset)
· 2-3 years’ professional experience in public policy, government relations, regulatory affairs, or stakeholder relations (nonprofit or member organization experience an asset)
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including researching and drafting key messages, policy papers, regulatory submissions, and government correspondence
· Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
· Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time appropriately
· Professionalism and ability to work independently
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
· Bilingualism is a strong asset
CIPH operates within a hybrid work environment, with two to three days per week spent at our office in Etobicoke. We offer a competitive, comprehensive salary and benefits package. Limited domestic travel may be required.
