Cross-Country Ski Enthusiast – Retail Sales

Trail Sports is looking for a friendly, motivated cross-country ski enthusiast to join our retail team at the Canmore Nordic Centre.

We’re looking for someone who already enjoys cross-country skiing and is excited to share that knowledge with our customers. You don’t need to know everything about ski equipment on day one—we can teach you the technical details—but a genuine interest in the sport and a desire to help people get the right equipment are important.

This is a customer-facing retail position that involves helping customers select cross-country skis, boots, poles, clothing, accessories and other outdoor products, as well as assisting with the day-to-day operation of our shop.

Key Responsibilities

- Help customers select cross-country ski equipment, clothing and accessories based on their needs, experience and goals
- Provide friendly, knowledgeable and personalized customer service
- Develop strong product knowledge and stay familiar with the equipment we sell
- Assist customers with retail purchases and process transactions accurately through our POS system
- Receive, tag, organize and restock inventory
- Merchandise products and maintain an organized, welcoming retail environment
- Help solve customer questions and problems using positive judgement and creative thinking
- Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and managers
- Pitch in wherever needed as part of a busy, team-oriented outdoor shop

- Existing knowledge of and enthusiasm for cross-country skiing
- A customer-focused mindset and a genuine desire to help people
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to listen to customers, understand what they need and make appropriate recommendations
- Good problem-solving skills and the confidence to take initiative
- Reliable, organized and attentive to detail
- Comfortable working as part of a team in a busy retail environment
- Previous outdoor or sporting-goods retail experience is an asset, but not required
