We are looking for a Business Information Management Analyst II (Data Scientist II) to join our client’s team and support an existing vacancy.

Our client is a leading financial institution with a strong presence across North America. They have operations across several areas, including institutional and corporate banking, wealth management, private clients, commercial banking, treasury, and retail banking .

Title: Data Scientist

Contract Period: 9 months with potential to extend or convert

Location: Toronto, ON

Location Type: Hybrid

Business Hours: Monday to Friday, core business hours

Job Responsibilities:

- Monitor a portfolio of production models on an ongoing basis.
- Use Python, SQL, Databricks, and PySpark to work with, analyze, and monitor large datasets.
- Review model performance, stability, usage, data quality, operational results, and monitoring metrics.
- Investigate model performance issues, threshold breaches, data quality issues, and other emerging risks.
- Perform trend analysis and quantitative analysis to support model governance decisions.
- Prepare monitoring reports, dashboards, and presentations for business and senior stakeholders.
- Act as the main First Line contact for assigned models throughout the model lifecycle.
- Support model onboarding, annual reviews, ongoing validation, model changes, and remediation activities.
- Prepare and maintain governance documentation, including Model Development Reports (MDRs), Monitoring Plans, validation responses, and supporting evidence .
- Work with Model Validation, Compliance, Audit, and Regulatory teams to respond to inquiries and requests.
- Make sure model documentation is accurate, complete, and ready for audit or review.
- Work closely with Business Owners, Model Vendors,



Model Validation, Compliance, Risk, and Technology teams.
- Help facilitate governance discussions and keep different stakeholder groups aligned.
- Review and challenge vendor-provided model documentation, monitoring results, and supporting evidence.
- Coordinate activities related to model implementation, validation, monitoring, and governance.
- Track action items and help drive the timely resolution of governance and validation findings.
- Look for ways to improve model monitoring, governance controls, reporting, and overall processes.
- Support regulatory remediation and governance transformation initiatives.
- Help automate and improve processes using Python, SQL, Databricks, and other analytical tools .
- Support emerging AI and advanced analytics governance activities as required.

Experience & Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Risk Management , or a related quantitative field.
- 2+ years of experience in analytics, data science, model governance, model risk management, fraud analytics, financial crime analytics, or a related area.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL .
- Experience working with Databricks, PySpark, and large datasets .
- Valuable understanding of Machine Learning and AI methodologies, including supervised and unsupervised learning, classification, regression, ensemble methods, anomaly detection, and emerging AI solutions.
- Experience working with Model Validation, Compliance, Audit, Model Risk Management, or Regulatory teams.
- Experience working with third-party model vendors and reviewing vendor models is required.
- Banking or financial institution experience is nice to have.
