INSURED LENDING
KV Capital is expanding its CMHC-insured multifamily lending platform, providing insured term and construction financing solutions for multifamily and purpose-built rental properties under CMHC’s National Housing Act programs. Our platform pairs deep capital markets and securitization expertise with a disciplined, credit-aware approach to origination, delivering competitive insured financing to borrowers, sponsors, and developers across the market.
POSITION: Director, Funding & Servicing, Insured Lending
LOCATION: Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary
YOUR OPPORTUNITY The successful candidate will be accountable for the execution, funding, servicing, administration, compliance, and operational performance of the insured lending portfolio. This includes:
- Executing and administering the CMHC-insured mortgage portfolio;
- Maintaining compliant funding, accurate servicing, effective risk management, and strong operational controls;
- Meeting CMHC, investor, aggregator, and regulatory requirements; and
- Acting as the primary link between underwriting, capital markets, finance, operations, third-party service providers, and CMHC throughout each insured loan’s life cycle.
Success in this role will depend on your ability to deliver expert-level client service, consistently fund and administer CMHC-insured transactions, and apply your expertise to create value for clients while strengthening KV Capital’s reputation as a trusted leader in the multifamily lending market.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Working with KV Capital’s leadership team, you will be responsible for:
- Leading all CMHC loan funding, closing, and disbursement activities;
- Ensuring all funding conditions, legal requirements, and CMHC program requirements are satisfied before funding;
- Overseeing administration and servicing of the CMHC-insured mortgage portfolio throughout the loan life cycle;
- Managing borrower payments, renewals, assumptions, amendments, discharges, and ongoing loan maintenance;
- Ensuring compliance with CMHC, National Housing Act, investor, and internal policy requirements;
- Maintaining strong operational controls, segregation of duties, and funding authorization protocols;
- Overseeing loan onboarding, system administration, data integrity, reconciliations, and servicing records;
- Monitoring portfolio performance, delinquency trends, covenant compliance, insurance coverage, and property tax status;
- Managing defaults, workout strategies, enforcement actions, and required CMHC notifications;
- Coordinating with aggregators, custodians, servicers, legal counsel, and other third-party service providers;
- Supporting loan sales, securitization readiness, settlement, and investor reporting;
- Overseeing trust accounting controls, cash movements, and funding reconciliations;
- Establishing and maintaining servicing policies, procedures, controls, and quality assurance programs;
- Leading and developing funding and servicing team members, including training and performance management;
- Providing portfolio, funding, servicing, compliance, and risk reporting to senior management and governance committees;
- Driving operational efficiency, automation, scalability, and continuous improvement initiatives; and
- Acting as the primary operational liaison with CMHC on funding, servicing, compliance, and audit matters.
YOUR CAPABILITIES AND CREDENTIALS
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of progressively senior experience in multifamily mortgage lending, with meaningful exposure to CMHC lending, funding, servicing, operations, capital markets, securitization, regulated lending environments, and third-party service provider oversight.
- Professional designation or advanced credential is preferred, such as CFA, CPA, MBA, Chartered Banker, mortgage industry certification, or servicing-related qualification.
- Strong knowledge of mortgage legal documentation, security registration, closing processes, and funding requirements.
- Demonstrated expertise in loan portfolio administration, servicing, delinquency management, and default resolution.
- Practical understanding of capital markets, loan sales, aggregators, custodians, settlement processes, and securitization requirements.
- Experience developing policies, procedures, controls, governance frameworks, and quality assurance processes.
- Ability to lead operational, technology, automation, and process improvement initiatives at scale.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with CMHC, aggregators, executives, auditors, investors, and service providers.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional collaboration across underwriting, servicing, finance, treasury, legal, operations, and capital markets.
