Our client is seeking a Director of Operations to provide strategic and operational leadership across complex, multi-service operations within a transportation and service-based workplace. This role is responsible for overseeing multiple business units, leading operational strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing performance, and fostering a strong culture of safety and accountability. The ideal candidate will bring extensive leadership experience in transportation, logistics, or fleet-based operations, along with strong operational, financial, and people management capabilities.
Your Success Will Be Defined By Your Ability To
Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with organizational goals and growth plans
Lead and support multiple departmental managers across transportation, service, and operational functions
Monitor performance through KPIs, dashboards, and reporting, and implement continuous improvement initiatives
Oversee transportation operations to ensure service reliability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction
Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and operational standards
Optimize fleet utilization, maintenance programs, and service readiness
Oversee garage, maintenance, and repair operations, including preventive maintenance and turnaround times
Drive cost control across labour, parts, vendor management, and capital planning
Lead safety programs, including incident management, risk mitigation, and compliance with occupational health and safety standards
Support budgeting,
forecasting, and financial performance in partnership with finance leadership
Build, coach, and develop high-performing leadership teams
Foster a strong culture focused on service excellence, safety, and continuous improvement
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, regulators, and external partners
Address escalated operational issues, incidents, and service challenges
Lead or support technology improvements, system optimization, and digital transformation initiatives
Your strengths include
Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Transportation, or a related field
10+ years of leadership experience in transportation, logistics, fleet operations, or a related industry
Proven ability to lead multi‑department operations and large teams
Strong knowledge of transportation operations, fleet management, and regulatory compliance
Experience with safety programs, risk management, and incident response
Understanding of maintenance operations, including preventive maintenance and repair workflows
Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
Experience with operational systems, telematics, and data‑driven decision‑making
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Strategic mindset with the ability to balance high-level planning and hands‑on execution
Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, complex operational environment
