AM dispatchers are responsible for coordinating the movements of trucks in the city area. Dispatchers communicate with truck drivers through phones, text, and will assign Truck dispatchers are available at all times to answer any questions from drivers, help them avoid traffic jams and keep them aware of inclement weather ahead.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Dispatch owner/operators
- Schedule loads based on safety, customer service, and load efficiency from the customer information received
- Ensure optimal truck utilization
- Provide customers with professional and timely support on a variety of issues
- Create, communicate, schedule, and maintain the driver/delivery schedules
- Communicate dispatch to drivers
- Confirm loads have been delivered
- Record all incidents to management
- Record customer orders, messages and requests, then forward these to appropriate areas




- Record deliveries in the format as required by the customer
- Ensure drivers are performing responsibilities in a safe, reliable and qualified manner
- Report in compliance with customer specifications
- Complete all daily duties assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: · Knowledge of City of Edmonton is a must. Industrial areas, and truck routes. Less Than Truckload and Full Load, via road and rail knowledge is preferred

· Customer service and data entry experience is required

· Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of AS400 and MS Office programs, including Microsoft Excel and Access is required

· Excellent communication with strong English, and interpersonal skills are required

· Must be well organized and possess strong attention to detail

· Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and be flexible to changing priorities

· Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team

· Willingness to assist others and go the extra mile

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

· City of Edmonton knowledge: Full Load, Less Than Truckload via road and rail/intermodal is preferred

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $58,000.00-$62,000.00 per year
