Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Excavator Operator to join our energetic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating excavators to perform a variety of earth-moving tasks essential to construction projects. Your expertise will help ensure projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards. This subcontractor position offers an exciting opportunity to work with heavy equipment and contribute to impactful infrastructure development.
Responsibilities
- Operate excavators safely and efficiently across diverse construction sites, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and on time
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on excavators and related heavy machinery to ensure optimal performance
- Assist with loading and unloading materials using excavators and other heavy equipment such as loaders, dozers, backhoes, graders, and pavers
- Collaborate with team members to execute site preparation, grading, trenching, and excavation activities
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures diligently to maintain a secure work environment
- Utilize mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor equipment issues and communicate complex problems for repairs
- Support other heavy equipment operations including dozer, loader, backhoe, grader,
horizontal drilling, and paving tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating excavators in a construction setting with a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation
- Mechanical knowledge related to excavators and other machinery such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and horizontal drills
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred for transporting equipment or materials between sites
- Familiarity with Caterpillar (CAT) equipment or similar brands is highly desirable
- Ability to operate additional machinery including graders, pavers, loaders, dozers, and horizontal drills is a plus
- Construction experience demonstrating knowledge of site safety practices and project workflows
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment
